A commercial battery energy storage system (BESS) can help with both. It stores surplus solar for later in the day, discharges during short demand peaks, and can keep critical equipment such as refrigeration, IT or security running during an outage.

NSW business battery incentives: from 1 September 2026, NSW offers incentives for eligible business batteries from 20 kWh up to large commercial and industrial scale. NSW indicates around 30-40% of battery installation cost for eligible combined solar-and-battery installations, depending on circumstances, with the value set by the certificate market. Limits: peak demand savings depend on your tariff and the length of your peaks, and backup depends on the inverter rating and which loads are connected.

4. Once accepted, we lodge the network application and check incentive eligibility.
5. We install, commission and tune the battery controls, then set up monitoring.
