On many business tariffs, one short spike in demand sets a charge that applies for the whole month, or longer. Peaks often happen when several large loads start together: compressors, air-conditioning, ovens, pumps or EV chargers. A demand management system watches site demand in real time and, as it approaches a limit you set, staggers start-ups or briefly sheds loads that can wait, keeping the peak lower.
We use your interval data and a site assessment to decide which loads can be controlled without affecting operations, then design, install and commission the system. We consider solar, batteries and power-factor correction alongside load control, so you get the most cost-effective combination rather than a single product. Operations come first. Only loads that can safely wait a few minutes, such as some HVAC units, water heating, pumps or EV chargers, are included. Critical refrigeration, safety systems and essential process equipment are excluded or given strict limits.
Results depend on your tariff structure, how peaks occur and how much flexible load you have; sites with one very large, non-flexible load may need a battery-based peak shaving system instead. The price depends on the number of controlled loads, cabling distances, switchboard configuration and integration with existing controls. Where a building management system already exists, we can often work through it.
