Large energy users face high demand charges, exposure to price spikes and growing solar generation that does not always line up with operations. Large-scale battery storage gives industrial and large commercial sites more control: it can cap demand, move energy from low-price to high-price periods, absorb surplus solar and support critical processes during grid disturbances.

A 200 kWh system starts from $149,000 installed, before incentives. This is an indicative starting price; projects of this scale receive a final fixed price in writing after studies, design and a detailed proposal.

What's included

  • A feasibility study using interval data, tariffs and operational load profiles
  • Modelling of demand reduction, solar shifting and energy arbitrage options
  • Grid connection studies and the network application process
  • Modular or containerised battery design, with equipment selected to suit the project scale
  • Civil, fire safety, protection and high-voltage interface planning
  • Staged delivery, with electrical work by our licensed electricians and suitably qualified high-voltage specialists where required
  • Energy management system, monitoring and commissioning

Why Blue Energy Solar

Large storage projects involve many moving parts: network requirements, protection settings, fire engineering, civil works and a control system that must earn its keep for years. We start with a feasibility study so the business case is tested before capital is committed, and we are open about assumptions, risks and what sits outside anyone's control, such as network study outcomes and future market prices. Staged delivery lets you start with a size that matches today's needs and expand as the site grows, with space, cabling and protection planned from the start.

Recommended for

Industrial sites, large commercial facilities and energy-intensive operations with high demand or large solar systems.

Incentives: from 1 September 2026, NSW business battery incentives apply to eligible business batteries from 20 kWh up to large commercial and industrial scale. NSW indicates around 30-40% of battery installation cost for eligible combined solar-and-battery installations, depending on circumstances, with the value set by the certificate market. Check current details on the official NSW business pages.

Arbitrage and market exposure: arbitrage returns depend on your retail contract or market exposure and on future price differences, which cannot be predicted with certainty.

Approvals: larger systems commonly need network studies, planning approval and fire safety assessment, which affect timing and cost. We hold $20 million public liability cover.

Directions

1. Request a feasibility discussion and share interval data, tariffs and site plans.
2. We model storage options and outline connection, planning and safety requirements.
3. Network studies and detailed design confirm the connectable size and configuration.
4. You receive a fixed-price proposal for the full project or for each stage.
5. We deliver civil, electrical and commissioning works stage by stage.
6. The energy management system goes live with performance monitoring and reporting.

Warnings

The price shown is an indicative starting price for a 200 kWh system before incentives; the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after studies, design and proposal.
Connection is subject to network studies and approval, and outcomes may change system size, cost or timing.
Planning approval, fire engineering and high-voltage works may be required and are scoped in the proposal.
Incentives depend on eligibility, program rules and certificate values at the time of installation.
Feasibility studies and each stage of works are priced and agreed in writing before they start.

Frequently Asked Questions

Arbitrage means charging the battery when electricity is cheaper, from solar or low-price grid periods, and using or exporting that energy when prices are higher. Whether it pays depends on your tariff or wholesale exposure and on price differences over time. We model realistic scenarios rather than best-case figures, and show how sensitive the results are to price changes.

It varies with system size, export plans and the capacity of the local network. Behind-the-meter projects that do not export can often move faster than systems designed to export large amounts. We identify likely requirements early in the feasibility stage, so the project timeline allows for study timeframes and any network upgrades they reveal.

Staging reduces risk. A first stage can prove the control strategy and savings on your site before more capital is committed, and it can fit within budget cycles or planned production shutdowns. The design allows later stages to connect cleanly, so expansion does not mean reworking what has already been built.

Large battery systems need careful attention to location, separation distances, thermal management, fire detection and emergency access. Requirements depend on the equipment, scale and site, and may involve fire engineering and consultation with the relevant authorities. We build these requirements into the design and proposal from the start, so there are no late surprises during approval or construction.
