From 1 September 2026, NSW offers incentives for eligible apartment buildings with at least 4 units that install shared batteries of 20-200 kWh usable capacity. A larger incentive applies when qualifying new or additional solar is installed in the required period. For a strata building, securing the incentive means getting the technical details, owners corporation approvals and timing right together. Our NSW Apartment Battery Incentive Service coordinates all three.

Owners corporation approval is usually the longest step. Installing a shared battery on common property typically needs a resolution at a general meeting, and the timing of meetings can affect whether solar is installed within the period needed for the larger incentive. Planning the sequence early helps avoid missing it.

1. Request the service and share building details, unit numbers and any existing solar.
2. We review eligibility and confirm the scope and fixed fee in writing.
3. We prepare committee material and a solar timing plan for the owners corporation.
4. Once the owners corporation approves the project, we coordinate design, network approval and installation.
5. We gather the required evidence and support the incentive claim until it is lodged.
