Solar panels and mounting rails add weight to a roof and, just as importantly, catch the wind. On most standard homes, installing to the mounting system's engineering documentation is enough. Some situations call for a structural engineer to check the roof directly: older or lightweight framing, long roof spans, exposed high-wind sites, large arrays, tilt frames on flat roofs, and most commercial and industrial buildings.
Structural certification is from $690 per roof. This is an indicative starting price; the final price depends on the building type, roof size, access to the structure, whether drawings exist and whether strengthening needs to be designed.
We arrange the engineering as part of your project, so the engineer works from our actual design and the mounting system we install. That avoids generic reports that do not match what goes on the roof. If the engineer requires changes, we build them into the layout and quote before installation, so there are no surprises on the day.

Building standards divide Australia into wind regions, and exposed hilltops, coastal sites and taller buildings all place more load on panel fixings. Mounting systems are tested for defined conditions, and an engineer confirms your roof and fixings suit them.
Certification applies to the design reviewed. Adding panels later or changing the layout may require the engineer to review it again.

Strengthening works, roof repairs and any special access equipment for the inspection are quoted separately where needed.
