Many home batteries run on default settings that don't match the household's tariff or routine. The battery may discharge too early and run flat before the evening peak, hold a backup reserve higher than you need, or charge from the grid at the wrong time. When tariffs change or you add an EV or a pool, settings that once worked can quietly cost you money.

Our Battery Optimisation Service is a remote review of your system data, your electricity bills and your current settings. We explain what is happening and make changes remotely where your system and access allow. The service costs $249 per battery system; as with all our prices it is indicative, and it is confirmed with you before we start.

What's included

  • Review of up to 12 months of battery and solar data, where available
  • Check of your tariff type, peak and off-peak windows and feed-in arrangement
  • Review of operating mode, charge and discharge schedules and grid charging
  • Assessment of backup reserve settings against your needs
  • Review of VPP participation or suitability, if relevant
  • Remote setting changes where your system allows, or clear instructions if not
  • A short written summary of findings and changes

Why Blue Energy Solar

We install and commission Sigenergy, GoodWe, Fox ESS and Sungrow battery systems, so we know how their operating modes behave in real Sydney homes. We review other systems too, based on the data and access you can provide. Our advice is independent of any electricity retailer or VPP operator. Blue Energy Solar is a New Energy Tech Approved Seller, and if we find a hardware fault, we explain it plainly and quote any on-site work separately.

Recommended for

Home battery owners who feel their battery isn't delivering the expected savings, have changed tariffs or are considering a Virtual Power Plant.

Remote changes depend on access. Some systems allow installer access through the manufacturer's portal; others only let the owner change settings in the app. If we can't change a setting remotely, we give you step-by-step instructions.

From 1 July 2026, NSW offers a one-off incentive of up to $1,000 for homes and small businesses that connect an existing battery to a Virtual Power Plant. VPP terms vary, so we review how they affect your reserve and savings; confirm current incentive details on the official NSW page before signing. Battery warranties can include throughput or cycle limits, so more cycling is not always better. Savings depend on your tariff, usage and system and are not assured.

Directions

1. Request the service and tell us your battery system and electricity plan.
2. Send recent electricity bills and grant access to your system data, or share app screenshots.
3. We analyse your data, tariff and settings against your household routine.
4. We make the agreed changes remotely where possible, or send you instructions.
5. You receive a written summary of the findings and the changes made.

Warnings

The price is per battery system and covers a remote review; any on-site visit is quoted separately.
Remote changes are only made with your approval and where the system and manufacturer access allow.
You need to provide recent electricity bills and access to your system data or app.
Hardware faults, warranty repairs and equipment replacement are not included.
Savings depend on tariffs, usage and weather and are not assured.

Frequently Asked Questions

We only use operating modes and settings the manufacturer provides for owners and installers, so normal changes don't affect the warranty. Some warranties limit total energy throughput or cycles, and we keep that in mind when recommending how hard the battery should work. If a setting would increase wear for little benefit, we tell you.

It depends on the offer and your priorities. A VPP can pay you or give bill credits when the operator uses your battery, and NSW now offers an incentive for connecting an existing battery. In return, the operator may discharge your battery at times you don't control, reducing your backup reserve. We compare the terms with your current savings.

That depends on whether your system provides backup during outages and how much you rely on it. A high reserve means stored energy sits unused most days, while a low reserve maximises daily savings but leaves less during a blackout. We set a level that suits how often outages affect you, your essential loads and your preferences, and you can change it later.

If the data shows signs of a fault, such as error codes, reduced capacity or a failing communication link, we explain what we see and recommend next steps. That may be a warranty claim with the manufacturer, a firmware update or an on-site inspection by our licensed electricians. Any on-site work is quoted separately before it goes ahead.
