Most businesses use the bulk of their electricity during the day, which is exactly when solar produces. That makes commercial rooftop solar one of the most direct ways to reduce what you pay for grid energy. Offices, retail premises, workshops and warehouses with large roof areas and steady weekday loads are often the strongest candidates.

We size the system to your real daytime consumption using interval data from your meter, rather than guessing from a quarterly bill. Our starting point is a 30 kW system, from $27,900 installed. This is an indicative starting price; your final fixed price is confirmed in writing after a site assessment and detailed proposal.

What's included

  • Interval data analysis to match system size to your daytime load
  • On-site assessment of roof structure, access, shading and the main switchboard
  • System design with premium JA Solar panels and commercial-grade inverters
  • The network connection application, including any protection requirements
  • Installation by SAA-accredited installers, with electrical work by our licensed electricians
  • Commercial monitoring so you can track generation and site consumption
  • Certificate paperwork, commissioning and a handover for your facilities team

Why Blue Energy Solar

Commercial solar works best when it is designed around how the site actually operates. We look at weekend and holiday loads, tenancy arrangements, roof condition and future plans such as EV charging or a battery, then recommend a system size that keeps most of the generation on site. Where it suits, we can use Sungrow, GoodWe, Fox ESS or Sigenergy commercial inverters. We schedule works to minimise disruption to trading, carry public liability cover suited to commercial sites, and give you one team to deal with from proposal to commissioning and beyond.

Recommended for

Businesses with strong weekday daytime electricity use, such as offices, retail premises and warehouses.

Certificates: depending on its size, a commercial system can create Small-scale Technology Certificates that reduce the upfront cost, while larger systems fall under different certificate rules. We confirm which applies in your proposal. STC values step down each 1 January, so check current values on the official pages before signing.

Approvals and limits: larger systems usually need a more detailed network application and may require grid protection equipment or an export limit. Leased premises need the landlord's written consent, and some roofs need a structural check. We hold $20 million public liability cover.

Price drivers: roof type and height, access equipment, cable runs, switchboard capacity and the network's technical requirements.

Directions

1. Request a proposal and provide 12 months of bills, or interval data if you have it.
2. We assess the roof, switchboard and site operations in person.
3. You receive a design, generation estimate and fixed-price proposal.
4. Once accepted, we lodge the network application and plan works around your trading hours.
5. Our team installs and commissions the system and sets up commercial monitoring.
6. We complete the certificate and compliance paperwork and hand over to your team.

Warnings

The price shown is an indicative starting price for a 30 kW system; the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after a site assessment and proposal.
Connection is subject to approval by your local electricity network, which may require protection equipment or an export limit.
Tenants must provide written landlord consent before installation.
Structural engineering, access equipment or switchboard upgrades identified at assessment are quoted separately.
Certificate discounts depend on eligibility and certificate values at the time of installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

We use your meter's interval data, usually 15-minute or 30-minute readings, to see how much power the site uses at each time of day and across weekends. The aim is to size the system so most generation is used on site, because exported energy earns far less than the grid energy it replaces. Where data is missing, we can arrange monitoring first.

It depends on your tariff, daytime load, weekend use and system size. Sites that use most of their solar during business hours generally see the best outcomes. Your proposal includes generation and savings estimates based on your own data, so you can assess payback on your figures rather than a generic claim. Savings are estimates and cannot be promised.

Yes, with the landlord's written consent. Landlords usually want to see design details, roof loading information and the installation method, and we can provide these. It is also worth agreeing what happens to the system if your lease ends or the building is sold. Review your lease terms before you commit.

Most roof work happens without affecting day-to-day operations. The main interruption is a short planned power shutdown while the system is connected to the main switchboard. We schedule this outside trading hours or at a quiet time agreed with you, and plan lift or crane access, safety zones and deliveries in advance.
