Moving a fleet to electric vehicles is as much an electrical project as a vehicle purchase. The depot needs enough capacity, the right number of chargers in the right places, and a charging schedule that keeps every vehicle ready without creating expensive demand peaks. Our EV Fleet Transition Study works through those questions for your depot and sets out a staged, costed plan.

The study is priced from $2,490 per fleet depot as an indicative starting price, confirmed in writing once we understand the fleet size and the depot.

What's included

  • Review of vehicle duty cycles: daily distances, dwell times, shifts and return-to-depot patterns
  • Estimated charging energy per vehicle and for the whole fleet
  • Charging schedule that keeps vehicles ready while avoiding unnecessary peaks
  • Depot electrical capacity check, including the main switchboard, supply and interval data
  • Recommended charger count, power levels, locations and load management
  • Solar and battery options to supply daytime charging and limit demand charges
  • Staging plan aligned with vehicle replacement cycles, with indicative costs for each stage

Why Blue Energy Solar

We install EV chargers, commercial solar and batteries, so the study connects the vehicles, the depot's electrical supply and on-site generation in one plan instead of treating them separately. The depot is inspected in person, and charger recommendations are based on your duty cycles rather than a one-charger-per-vehicle assumption. Installation is carried out by our licensed electricians, using smart chargers, hybrid inverters and batteries from our range, which includes Sigenergy, GoodWe, Fox ESS and Sungrow.

Recommended for

Businesses and organisations with a depot-based vehicle fleet that want a costed, staged plan before switching to electric vehicles.

Depot capacity is often the deciding factor. If the existing supply cannot support the chargers you need, options include load management, staged charging, a battery or a supply upgrade, which requires network approval and can take time. The study identifies which applies early, so it can be built into the plan.

Charging costs depend on your tariff and when vehicles charge. Solar can supply daytime charging for vehicles parked during the day, while overnight charging relies mainly on grid power or a battery. Vehicle selection, finance and tax matters are outside the scope of the study.

Directions

1. Request the study and send us fleet details, typical routes or telematics data, and 12 months of depot bills.
2. We confirm the scope and fixed price in writing and schedule a depot visit.
3. Our team inspects the switchboard, supply, parking layout and roof areas.
4. We model charging energy, schedules, charger numbers, capacity and solar and battery options.
5. You receive a staged transition plan and we present it to your fleet and facilities teams.

Warnings

The price shown is an indicative starting price for one depot; the final fixed price is confirmed in writing after we review the fleet size and depot.
The customer provides fleet usage data, and the accuracy of the plan depends on the data supplied.
Costs in the plan are indicative; installation is quoted separately after detailed design.
Supply upgrades and larger solar or battery systems are subject to network approval, and some works may need council approval.
The study does not include vehicle selection, finance or tax advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

For each vehicle or vehicle group, we need typical daily distances, when vehicles leave and return, how long they stay at the depot and any shift patterns. Telematics data is ideal, but a spreadsheet of typical routes and trip records works too. We also need 12 months of depot electricity bills, plus interval data if it is available.

Not always. Vehicles with long overnight dwell times can often share chargers or use lower-power charging with load management, while vehicles on tight turnarounds may need faster charging. The study matches charger numbers and power levels to your duty cycles, which can reduce both equipment cost and the load on the depot supply.

Yes, and most fleets do. The plan groups work into stages aligned with vehicle replacement, so early stages can install cabling and switchboard capacity sized for future chargers. That avoids digging up the car park twice and spreads the cost over several budget periods. Each stage has indicative costs and a clear trigger for moving to the next.

The study compares options such as load-managed charging, off-peak scheduling, a battery to cover peaks and a supply upgrade. A supply upgrade needs a network application and can take several months, so identifying it early matters. We explain the trade-offs and timing, so you can plan vehicle orders around the electrical work.
