An EV load-management system solves this by measuring total demand at the main supply in real time and sharing the spare capacity between chargers, reducing charging power when the site is busy and increasing it when demand falls.

Compatibility: chargers must support the load-management protocol or controller used. Some older or basic chargers cannot be controlled and may need replacing.
Charging speed: at busy times each car may charge more slowly, but vehicles parked for several hours usually still receive a useful charge.
