Farms often use a lot of electricity in daylight: milking, cool rooms, workshop tools, grain handling and irrigation pumps. That makes them well suited to solar, because power produced on site replaces grid electricity bought at retail prices rather than being exported for a few cents. We design farm solar around your actual loads and seasons, on shed roofs or ground-mounted frames.

Farm solar pays back best when production matches use. A dairy with morning and afternoon milking, or a cool room running through summer, uses solar well; a shed used mainly at night uses it less, unless a battery is added.

Frequently Asked Questions
Shed roofs are usually cheaper because the structure is already there, provided the roof is sound, faces a useful direction and is close to the switchboard. Ground mounts cost more but can be placed for ideal orientation, away from shade, and are easier to maintain. We compare both options on site, including cable distances, which can make a big difference on large properties.
A solar system connects behind one meter and offsets the loads on that supply. If your sheds, house and pumps are on separate meters, we look at which meter carries the most daytime load and design around that. Sometimes two smaller systems work better than one large one. We explain the options and trade-offs in the quote.
A grid-connected system offsets the pump's usage while the sun is out, and the grid supplies any shortfall. If pumping can be scheduled in daylight, solar covers a large share of it. For remote pumps away from the grid, a dedicated solar water pump is usually a better fit. We look at your pumping hours and power needs before recommending an approach.
It varies with the network, the system size and the capacity of the local lines. Smaller systems are often approved quickly, while larger three-phase systems in rural areas can take longer and may come with export limits. We lodge the application for you, keep you updated and schedule installation once approval is in place.
