Inverters are rated for outdoor use, but many are mounted on west-facing walls that bake in the afternoon sun during a Sydney summer. When an inverter gets too hot, it reduces its output to protect itself, a process called derating, often just when your panels should be producing strongly. Direct sun and driving rain can also age displays, seals and cable glands faster.

A badly designed cover can trap heat and make the problem worse. Inverter manufacturers specify minimum clearances above, below and beside the unit, and we fit covers that respect those clearances so warm air can escape. We will also tell you honestly if a cover is not the answer, for example when an inverter sits in a confined space with poor airflow and needs relocating.
