Fixing a leak or a cracked tile later can mean removing and reinstalling part of the array, which costs more than doing the job first. That is why we recommend repairing the array area before installation, while the roof is clear and easy to work on.

Minor repairs, such as replacing a few tiles, can sometimes be done as part of the installation visit. Larger work like re-pointing or sheet replacement is usually completed first, because mortar needs time to cure and roofers need clear access. We schedule the two so there is as little gap as possible between them.

Workmanship on the repairs and on the solar installation is covered by the warranty terms set out in your quote. Leaks from parts of the roof outside the repaired and installed areas are assessed and quoted separately.
If the roof is near the end of its life, often yes. Panels are expected to stay in place for 25 years or more, and removing and reinstalling an array to replace the roof later adds cost.
