When your solar system stops producing, shows an error message or keeps tripping, every sunny day lost costs you money. The cause could be simple, such as a tripped circuit breaker or a grid voltage event, or more serious, such as an earth fault, water in an isolator or a failed inverter. Finding the real cause quickly avoids guesswork and unnecessary part replacement.

Our licensed electrician attends your property, checks the inverter logs, isolators, strings and switchboard, and uses test equipment to trace the fault. Minor issues can often be resolved within the first hour, and for larger repairs you receive a clear written quote. The call-out is $249 including the first hour on site; this is an indicative price, confirmed with you when we schedule the visit.

What's included

  • Call-out by a licensed electrician and the first hour on site
  • Review of inverter error codes and event history
  • Checks of AC and DC isolators, circuit breakers and switchboard connections
  • String voltage, current and insulation resistance testing to trace earth faults
  • Making the system safe if a dangerous fault is found
  • Minor adjustments or resets that can be completed within the hour
  • A written diagnosis and quote for any repair, replacement or warranty claim support

Why Blue Energy Solar

We install and service solar systems, so our electricians know the common failure points and test methodically instead of swapping parts until something works. We work on systems from most manufacturers, whoever installed them. Blue Energy Solar is a New Energy Tech Approved Seller with $20 million public liability cover, and we explain the fault and your options in plain English before any extra work goes ahead.

Recommended for

Solar owners whose system has stopped producing, shows an error or earth fault alarm, or keeps tripping.

Stay safe while you wait. Solar panels produce DC voltage whenever there is daylight, even when the system is switched off at the switchboard. Don't open the inverter, isolators or junction boxes, and don't go onto the roof. If you see smoke or scorching, or smell burning, keep clear and treat it as an emergency.

If your inverter is under warranty, the manufacturer may require a fault report before approving a replacement, and our diagnosis supports that. Extra time beyond the first hour, parts and repairs are quoted and approved by you first. Travel to locations well outside Sydney may be quoted separately.

Directions

1. Request a fault diagnosis and send a photo of any error message and the inverter label.
2. We confirm the price and schedule a licensed electrician.
3. The electrician tests the system and traces the fault on site.
4. Minor issues are fixed within the first hour where possible, and any hazard is made safe.
5. You receive a written diagnosis and a quote for any further repair.

Warnings

The price covers the call-out and the first hour on site for one solar system.
Additional time, parts and repairs are quoted and only carried out with your approval.
Roof access is only undertaken where safe; special access equipment is quoted separately.
Travel to locations outside our standard service area may incur an additional charge, confirmed before the visit.
Warranty claims are assessed and decided by the equipment manufacturer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Without opening any equipment, check whether the solar circuit breaker in your switchboard has tripped and whether the inverter display shows an error. Note the message and take a photo. Also make sure it isn't simply a grid outage or a heavily overcast day. If anything looks damaged or smells burnt, keep clear and don't reset anything.

An earth fault, often shown as an isolation or insulation error, means current is leaking from the solar wiring to earth, usually because of damaged cable, water in an isolator or a faulty panel or connector. The inverter stops for safety. Finding the fault means testing string by string, which our licensed electricians do with insulation resistance testers.

Simple issues, such as restarting after a grid event, correcting a setting or remaking an accessible connection, can often be resolved within the first hour. Repairs that need parts, such as a replacement isolator, connector or inverter, are quoted in writing. We carry common parts where possible and schedule the repair promptly once you approve.

We diagnose the fault and document the evidence manufacturers typically ask for, such as error codes, test results and photos. The manufacturer then decides whether to replace or repair the unit. Some warranties cover a replacement unit but not the labour to install it, so we explain what is likely to be covered before you proceed.
